Why We Built Convo Call
We outgrew the old VRS apps. So we built something entirely new.
For years, Convo VRS served the community across iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and Convo Link via web browser. But the vision evolved. Amanda Montgomery, CEO, and Wayne Betts Jr., CVO and Co-Founder, knew it was time to start fresh not with a system-first approach, but a user-centric one. One that keeps up with technology and fits the needs of Deaf users, not the other way around.
The team came together in unity to build something flexible. A platform that can easily move and grow in any direction, rather than the rigid systems of the past.
Amanda puts it simply: from day one, Convo has always been about conversations. That's literally what Convo means. Consumers and interpreters are what make those conversations real. As technology evolves, the mission stays the same; creating connection. The moment you connect, see each other, nod. That's something technology supports but can never replace. As Wayne describes it, Convo Call represents years of investment and collective effort across the company.

A Thank You to the Community
Before anything else, thank you. Some of you have been with Convo for over 17 years. You've stayed deeply committed to a Deaf-owned, Deaf-designed, Deaf-run company. You are part of this success. Part of this journey.
As Amanda shared, the reason Convo is successful is because the community keeps it real. Convo Call is the company's way of saying thank you. It represents many years of work and a significant investment in building something that the community can help shape together.
Wayne's invitation to the community says it all: come and use it. Play with it. Give us feedback. Have conversations. That's the big reason behind all of this.
What's Changing
Starting today, March 30, 2026, Convo Call is officially available to all Convo users. It is now the default VRS app from Convo, replacing both Convo VRS and Convo Link, which will be discontinued on May 4, 2026.
Convo Call is available on Android, iOS, and Web. If you're a current Convo user, you can log in with the same VRS number and password you've always used or with your email address.
Here's what you need to know:
- Your VRS number stays the same. Nothing changes with your account. Just the app you use to make calls.
- One app for everything. Convo Call replaces both Convo VRS and Convo Link. No more switching between apps. Simple. One button.
- Available everywhere. Android, iOS, and Web (Chrome browser via desktop).
- Same interpreters you trust. The same champion interpreters are right here in Convo Call.
What's New in Convo Call
Better Call Quality — Clear and smooth video calls built on a new foundation. As Wayne shared after experiencing it firsthand — so clear.
All-New Experience — Modern design that's easy to use from the first call. A flexible platform built to evolve, not stay rigid.
Interpreter Teaming — For longer or complex calls, interpreter teaming keeps your conversation clear and steady.
How to Switch
If you haven't switched yet, it only takes a minute. Download Convo Call from Google Play or the App Store, or visit call.convo.io on Chrome desktop. Log in with your same VRS number and password or your email address.
Once you're logged in, please remove Convo VRS and Convo Link from your devices.
Built to Grow With You
Convo Call isn't a finished product. It's the beginning of a new chapter. As Wayne and Amanda both emphasized, this is about opening the door for the community to help shape what Convo Call becomes. Your feedback drives what comes next.
